Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of one of the most wonderful woman I've ever known. I am the daughter of Charles and MaryJane Duncan and the granddaughter of Esther and Charles Ferrier. Maryann took incredible care of Esther when she was in the nursing home. She visited many times a week and brought light to grandma's tedious days in the home after her stroke. Since the rest of our family lived in Michigan we weren't able to visit as often as we wanted....and Grandma refused to come live in Michigan with us. You have no idea how much Maryann was cared about by our family. Dad always made sure that our visits to Indiana included a visit with MaryAnn. The last time I called her on the phone (following my Dad's final wishes that I keep in touch) I could tell she didn't remember me. That doesn't lessen our family's gratefulness for her kindness. I just found out about her passing from my Uncle Allen Woods of Indiana, now living in Raleigh, NC. I would have written much sooner if I had known. I hope this finds its way to the family even though it's the end of August. Both of my parents are gone now and I understand the pain. May you find peace and comfort in your family and friends, and in hearing again how much your Mom was loved. Betsy Duncan-Spong
