Appreciation and Respect From A Nephew

I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend time with Uncle Bugs over the last few years. Living in Arizona, the visits didn't come often, but I always made the time to visit Clymer to see my Uncles. I grew up having so much respect for, and appreciation of Uncle Bugs. Father-less, poor, and sometimes homeless, my mother, my siblings, and I found ourselves on the doorstep of Uncle Bugs and Aunt Jeans humble abode needing a place to stay on at least two occasions I can remember. That little coal company house on Jefferson St was pillbox size but he made room for us and was always concerned and helpful to my mother in the difficult years for us. Later, in my teen years, along with my Uncle Denny (another super-admired Uncle, as are all of them), we drove to Clymer each year for the rite of fall deer season. Uncle Bugs (and of course, Aunt Jean) was/were very generous to keep and feed us all. He was so patient in teaching a no-nothing city kid the things needed to survive Penns Woods deer hunting and be successful at it. Those are the most cherished memories of my formative years and it is so fitting that my first deer was taken while sitting next to Uncle Bugs. These experiences shaped my love of the outdoors forever and gave me the foundation for so many other things. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. I am so thankful to have had him as my Uncle Bugs.
